O pica-pau desempenha um papel importante na lenda da flauta nativa no oeste dos Estados Unidos. Esta flauta tem sido o mascote da High Spirits Flutes desde o início, quando originalmente começamos a fazer flautas em 1990; o Woodpecker foi a primeira flauta de cabeça de pássaro que criamos.
O corpo da flauta é feito à mão de noz ebanizada e incrustado com cabochões turquesa. A cabeça de pássaro esculpida à mão é tratada com um corante transparente, realçando o grão natural da madeira. A ebonização é um processo usado no início dos anos 1900. Embora a madeira de ébano já fosse rara e cara, os móveis de ébano eram populares naquela época. Para compensar isso, os madeireiros desenvolveram um processo de tingimento chamado ebonização. Ao contrário de uma mancha, o processo de tingimento penetra profundamente na fibra da madeira. A nogueira é ideal para esse processo porque tem um grão marrom escuro que se destaca no corante preto, dando-lhe uma aparência semelhante ao ébano. Descobrimos que este processo pode melhorar a qualidade do som da madeira.

1. Prepare — Trim the wick to 5mm before each burn. Remove all packaging and place on a heat-safe surface away from drafts.
2. First burn — Allow the wax to melt all the way to the edges on your first use (approx. 2 hours). This prevents tunnelling and ensures an even burn for the life of the candle.
3. Enjoy — Never burn for more than 4 hours at a time. Keep away from children, pets, and flammable materials. Never leave a burning candle unattended.
4. Care — Once finished, clean the vessel with warm soapy water and repurpose as a storage jar, planter, or glassware.
We started Apothecary because we believed your home deserved better than synthetic fragrance and mass-produced wax. Most candles on the market are made with paraffin — a petroleum by-product — and loaded with artificial fragrance that can trigger headaches, allergies, and that familiar "chemical" smell.
We wanted something different: a candle that fills a room slowly, honestly, with scent that feels like it belongs there. That's why every Amber Candle is hand-poured in small batches using a coconut-soy blend, scented with a proprietary amber and resin accord that took over a year to develop.
Burn time matters too. We designed the Amber Candle to reach a full melt pool within the first two hours, which means no tunnelling, no wasted wax, and a consistent scent throw every time you light it.

How long does the Amber Candle burn?
Approximately 50 hours with proper care — trimming the wick to 5mm before each burn and not exceeding 4-hour burn sessions.
What wax is used?
A coconut-soy blend. We chose this combination for its clean burn, excellent scent throw, and renewable sourcing. No paraffin, no petroleum.
Is it safe to burn around pets?
Our fragrance is free from known pet-toxic ingredients, but we always recommend burning in a well-ventilated space. Keep candles physically out of reach of all animals at all times.
