Mariposa is the Spanish word for butterfly. Our Signature Mariposa flute was inspired by our deep respect and appreciation for the beauty and grace found in the natural world. The butterfly also signifies transformation, which the musical voice of our flutes offer to those playing them, to those hearing them, and to the harmonious sounds of the world around us.
This flute is tuned in the key of F# minor (440 Hz) this flute can also be played in the relative major diatonic scale in the key of A. It is 22.25 inches (56 cm) long with a 1-inch (2.5 cm) bore diameter.
Each of our flutes is handcrafted from a single piece of domestic Mahogany. The body of this flute features Unakite cabochons on the flute body inlay, and Spiny Oyster cabochons on the fetish inlay.
Mahogany has a fine balance between clarity & warmth in its tone. It creates a special fullness on the low notes & its physical beauty is exceptional. Aromatic Cedar has been used traditionally for decades. Cedar has a range of colors from ginger orange to burgundy red, it can also showcase sap wood which is yellow color in Aromatic Cedar.
For over 30-years we have been crafting flutes from single pieces of Aromatic Cedar and in the process we have become adept at choosing planks with natural characteristics to turn into incredible sounding flutes, including those with many knots in the wood. We are experts at a technique called Turquoise Accent, which fills small cosmetic wood knots in Aromatic Cedar.

1. Prepare — Trim the wick to 5mm before each burn. Remove all packaging and place on a heat-safe surface away from drafts.
2. First burn — Allow the wax to melt all the way to the edges on your first use (approx. 2 hours). This prevents tunnelling and ensures an even burn for the life of the candle.
3. Enjoy — Never burn for more than 4 hours at a time. Keep away from children, pets, and flammable materials. Never leave a burning candle unattended.
4. Care — Once finished, clean the vessel with warm soapy water and repurpose as a storage jar, planter, or glassware.
We started Apothecary because we believed your home deserved better than synthetic fragrance and mass-produced wax. Most candles on the market are made with paraffin — a petroleum by-product — and loaded with artificial fragrance that can trigger headaches, allergies, and that familiar "chemical" smell.
We wanted something different: a candle that fills a room slowly, honestly, with scent that feels like it belongs there. That's why every Amber Candle is hand-poured in small batches using a coconut-soy blend, scented with a proprietary amber and resin accord that took over a year to develop.
Burn time matters too. We designed the Amber Candle to reach a full melt pool within the first two hours, which means no tunnelling, no wasted wax, and a consistent scent throw every time you light it.
This candle isn't just a product. It's what we'd want in our own homes.

How long does the Amber Candle burn?
Approximately 50 hours with proper care — trimming the wick to 5mm before each burn and not exceeding 4-hour burn sessions.
What wax is used?
A coconut-soy blend. We chose this combination for its clean burn, excellent scent throw, and renewable sourcing. No paraffin, no petroleum.
Is it safe to burn around pets?
Our fragrance is free from known pet-toxic ingredients, but we always recommend burning in a well-ventilated space. Keep candles physically out of reach of all animals at all times.
