The desire for peace, quiet and serenity began to haunt me in early 90’s but the opportunity to make a move did not present itself until 1996. After attending a festival in Tubac, Arizona, a friend suggested we do a walk-about (drive-about, really) in Arizona. The town of Patagonia was our first stop and I really did not need to look any farther because it immediately felt like home to me.
Change is in the Air
When I first began designing flutes I made it a priority to offer the instruments at a price that would make it affordable for the average person and provide the experience of creating music to as many people as possible.

White Ghost Flute - 1992
Nature has always been a refuge for me. I appreciate that we are a connected part of nature’s family, and trees in particular have always stood out to me. Trees became even more important when I began crafting my first flutes and using wood to create them.

Interview with Japanese Musician, Moto Ozaki
We were excited to welcome Japanese musician, Moto Ozaki, to our High Spirits studios in Patagonia, Arizona. Moto shared the story of how he became interested in the Native Flute and explained how its popularity in Japan is growing. He delighted everyone with a traditional Japanese song, “Red Dragonfly” played on a High Spirits Sparrow Hawk in the key of “A”. Thank you to Ken Koshio for the translation.
