Odell the Grandfather!
I never thought much about being a grandfather until about six months ago when I found out that my son and his wife are pregnant. According to the sonogram, it is a girl. She will be joining us in early October, and my overwhelming feelings about this prospect have taken me completely by surprise. Imagining my relationship and the desire to interact with her have filled me with joy and loving anticipation.
Nature as Medicine
Today we got our first monsoon showers and as you can see, it is showing off. My walks among the trees, grasses, rocks, and critters is a magical way of washing off the challenges of the day.
Clouds of Change
The Hopi use the term Kachina Clouds to describe the ever changing cloud patterns that bring the life giving rains. During the summer monsoon, we are blessed with this ever changing sky canvas.
Parenting--Conflict or Growth
I recently received birthday cards from my son and daughter expressing how appreciative they are of my efforts to be their father. Of course, the process was not all perfect, but they were able to see that my intentions were good and sincere. Their recognition of my efforts reminded me of my challenges on the path to this point.
